The realization of this archive and the historical documents housed in the Bibliotheque
Haitienne des Peres du Saint-Esprit is rendered possible with the aid of UNESCO in
commemoration of the "International year of the commemoration of the struggle against, and the
abolition of, slavery".

All of the documents included in this body of work have been made possible by different
members of the BHPSE.

Mr Patrick Tardieu, head archivist of the Bibliotheque Haitienne was responsible for the
conception and overall supervision of the project; with the assistance of Dr. Jean Fritzner
Etienne, Historian, University of Paris and Rodney Augustin, assistant archivist, B.A. linguistics.

Camy Bellecius and Georgi Clement Pierre were responsible for the classification of documents.
Editing and numerous revisions were carried out by Marie Therese Chenet and Dr. Claude C.
