Cluster One was constructed from the values for hopelessness, depression, and powerlessness. Values on this variable for the 30 individ- uals in the sample ranged from 4 to 11 with a mean of 7.27 and a standard deviation of 1.86. Table 20 illustrates the intercorrelations of the scales of Cluster One.
