Values for this variable ranged from 3 to 12. Cluster Two was constructed from an evaluation of the extent of emotional distress expressed by the individual and was defined by the scales for turmoil, frustration, and anxiety. Cluster Three was constructed from the individual's perception of social support defined by expression of a sense of abandonment, repudiation of key others, and truculence. Values for Cluster Two and Three also ranged from 3 to 12. Three of the independent variables tested in the psychosocial analysis were indices of social support. These are listed in Table 11.
