FLORIDA GEOLOGICAL SURVEY Vernon (1951), utilizing aerial photographs, mapped fracture patterns throughout northern peninsular Florida. Regionally, these fractures generally trend parallel to the axis of the Ocala Platform in a northwest-southeast orientation. A secondary system of fractures intersects these primary fractures at high angles in a northeast-southwest trend (Vernon, 1951).
