PREFACE FLORIDA GEOLOGICAL SURVEY Tallahassee, Florida 2005 The Florida Geological Survey (FGS), Division of Resource Assessment and Management, Department of Environmental Protection, is publishing as Special Report No. 57, Geological and Geotechnical Investigation Procedures For Evaluation of the Causes of Subsidence Damage in Florida. This report is a consensus compilation from twenty six professionals who participated in Sinkhole Summit II, a meeting to discuss said issues. The meeting was initiated by the FGS to solicit input as the agency prepared input to assist the Florida State University, College of Business in preparing a report to the Florida Legislature in response to Chapter 627.7077 Florida Statutes. This report should assist the insurance industry, geologic and geotechnical consultants, government agencies, property owners, and the public, in providing a template for sinkhole investigations protocols.
