In Cherokee there are normally about 30 chil- dren who attend. Activities are provided every morning in Dundas Town and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday after- noons in Cherokee. Each session includes singing, Bible stories, arts and crafts and outdoor recreation. All of the activities are performed around the main theme which this year is Lift Off. The week culminated on Thursday eve- ning at Cherokee with the showing of a Christian movie followed by hot dogs and on Friday a talent show in the morning and an inspirational movie in the evening at St. odist Church in Dundas Town. Stephen Hale, Minister of both the Methodist churches in Cherokee and Dun- das Town, was most appreciative of the very generous gift which this group from Cypress Lake brought with them for the church. They donated two projectors and two projection screens, one of which will be installed and the other will be portable. “This went a step well beyond anything ever expected,” stated Rev. Hale. “Every year we will bring a gift and next year we would like to not only do Vacation Bible School but also bring a work party to carry out repair work on any homes of needy church members,” stated Mr. Liddle. Evans Vacation Bible School began at Grace Baptist Church on June 25 led by a group of 42 persons from Flint Groves Baptist Church in Gastonia, North Carolina, led by Youth Pastor Rev. Chris Howell. The group arrived on the island on June 23rd and split into two groups: one group as- signed to Grace Baptist in Dundas Town and the other to Unity Baptist in Treasure Cay. The camp was led by young people from grades six through 12 and all of the adults present work with the youth group at their church. Rev. Chris stated that this The youth at Grace Baptist Church in Dundas Town enjoyed is their first international Vacation Bible School but is sure that they will be back next year. This connection was made with Samuel Edgecombe as members of the church came to Abaco for mission ser- vices, and he arranged for them to speak with Bishop Henfield from Grace Baptist at which time the plans began. The Vacation Bible School covered a number of areas including praise and wor- ship, recreation/sports, crafts, learning session and snacks. The students learned a lot about Bible characters and how to develop some of those positive traits such as sharing and caring. On June 28 the stu- dents were presented with certificates of participation for their involvement in the program.
