August 1, 2007 The Abaconian Page 21A | Church News | Methodist Youth Workers By Jennifer Hudson Two college students from the United States are here for six weeks this summer assisting the Methodist church with their youth programmes. Sarah Clarius from Alexandria, Virginia, and Joshua Docter from Shreveport, Louisiana. Both attend North West State University in Natchi- toches. They were in Marsh Harbour in May on a mission trip with a group of young volunteers to carry out construction work on homes badly in need of repair in Dundas Town. They enjoyed their experi- ence so much that, when they discovered that Rev. Septhen Hale needed assistance with the youth programme at St. Andrews Church in Dundas Town and Epworth Chapel at Cherokee during the summer, they volunteered to return and assist. They arrived back here on July 3 and will remain until August 16. Sarah and Joshua run a children’s pro- gramme each Tuesday at the Epworth Chapel in Cherokee and a youth group there each Thursday. On Fridays they run a youth group at St. Andrews in Dundas Town. They are also involved in ministry at both churches, working along with Rev. Hale. During the three weeks that groups from churches in the United States are run- ning Vacation Bible School for the two churches, Sarah and Joshua are also assist- ing with that. “We keep very busy and are absolutely loving it here,” they enthused. Cornish clearly stated that if Junkanoo is to be a part of the Gospel Festival that he will not be a participant.
