“What a brave boy! You wouldn't do
so, brother Ben, would you? But what
makes the geese act so mean to the girl?
The poor little thing is frightened almost
out of her wits.”

“Well, you see, the children picked up
one of those little, soft, yellow goslings, and
that excited the geese very much.”

“But the children wouldn't hurt the gos-
lings, would they ?”

“No; they only wished to feel their soft
down. But, then, geese don’t know much.”
