VERIFICATlcTO SURVEY

An intervi-. survey of farmers in a TARGET AREA using a structured
questionn.sai focusing only on key variables determined in an
EXPLORATO  SURVEY to be important f-or technology design.



WETLAND

Land of which the rooting zone can be kept saturated for a
substantial part of the growing season, where necessary, by
encouraging accumulaLion of water on the soil through puddling and
the use oF bunds or levees.



WHOLE-FARM, ANALYSIS

The analysis of a farm as a holistic entity with the aim of at
least improving if not optimizing the operation of the FARM SYSTEM
relative to the farmer's objectives and the constraints he faces.



WHOLE-FARM APPROACH

The approach of looking at a farm as a holistic entity when
seeking to identify the problems and opportunities, assess
interrelationships, design and conduct experiments and evaluate
results. It is not to be confused with WHOLE-FARM ANALYSIS.
