This inde> is the same as the DIVERSITY INDEX except that the
value of Each harvest of a repeated crop is used rather than the
value of ec:h different product.



HOMOGENEOUJ FARMER GROUPS

Groups of ~ r.aers who farm under similar conditions and in similar

HOUSEHOLD

A househoi-d comprises the farmer and other family members. It is
both .- consu.ming and producing unit, and is a social organization.
Households ;re often under the manangErnt of a single person, but
sometimes operate collectively. Members normally live and sleep
in the same place, share meals, and divide household duties.



HYDROMORPHIC

Derived fro. hydro (uater) and morph (form). Descriptive of soil
developed in the presence of permanent or periodic excess of
moisture.



INFORMAL tZVEY

A survey undertaken without formal. sampling procedures, pretested
questionnaires and other proceduvas that permit statistical

INFRASTRUCTURE

The supportive feaLures of an economy often provided by
government, but sometimes provided by private industry, such as
transportation, electricity, water, communications and
governmental organizations.
