130 ¥ESUS DIVINE. how many wagon loads of bread it would take to feed such a vast multitude. The disciples told Jesus that there was a little boy who had five barley loaves and two small fishes. Jesus told. them to bring them to him. He took the loaves and fishes and when he had blessed, began to break. And what do you think? the bread multiplied and multiplied in his hands, until the great company was fed. When they had eaten until all were satisfied, they took up of the pieces left, twelve baskets full; more bread than when they began. Surely Jesus must have been divine to do this. Jesus wanted some of his disciples to see his glory, that they might never doubt again that he was the Son of God. And this is why he took them up into this high mountain, where “His face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.” You see they could never forget this wonderful scene. Peter was so happy on this mountain that he wanted to stay, and asked Jesus if he might make some tents, so they might live in this delightful spot. The presence of Moses and Elias at this time teaches us that we are to live again, and that our spirits go to Jesus, after our bodies have been put in the ground. O! what a comfort it is, when our friends in Jesus die, to know that they still live, and that if we love and obey Jesus we shall meet them again in heaven.
