Who was tempted of the Devil ?
Jesus, our Savior.
How did the Devil tempt him? —
By offering him the world, if he would worship him.
To whom did the world belong ?
To Jesus, who made it.
Who tempted our first parents?
The same old serpent, the Devil.
What is his chief business ?
To lie and deceive, and draw others into sin.
How did Jesus resist the Devil?
By the word of God.
Who tempts us to do wrong?
The Devil.
How may we stand against his temptations?
By God’s word, just as Jesus did.
