APPENDIX B TRIGONOMETRIC FUNCTIONS USED TO GENERATE SEASONALLY-VARYING WATER AREA AND SOLAR RADIATION IN MODELS I AND II OF WATER AREA, FISH, AND STORKS In Figure B-1 is a diagram of the sinewave function for water area under the two conditions, primitive (un- drained) and present (drained). Also given is the analog patching diagram with potentiometers used to regulate amplitude, frequency, and average indicated. Frequency was the same for all conditions but amplitude- and mean were adjusted to approximate nine drainage conditions, including primitive and present. Values used to approximate the nine conditions (c and j are the same) are given in Table B-1. Figure B-2 shows the cosine function used to generate seasonally-varying solar radiation and includes the analog patching diagram.
