EF -COR A'~DUM FOR ~NELL SPAR KS I heartily approve of the proposal that the President afford special recognition to t!.e A!r National Guard upon completion af their 1.000th tra report mission from the United States to South Vietna.m. Me-nbers of the National -:aard have a tremendous pride in their organization stimulated in part by t>eir coritinut-ig fight for survival as an organization. Senator E<iward Kennedy recently commenteel that the National Guard neither guards nor trains. This was a gratuitous insult and touched a very sensitive nerve. The Presidet's ret-larks should e icourage their pride in their orga-.imatiort anel, particularly, this achievemens without committing him in any subatarttive way ori tbc future of the organisation -that not being here an issue.
