Februsry 23, 1953 Mr. Marion 0. Nelson Panama City Florida Dear Bubbs: Rupert told me the other day in Sundsy School that in a conver- sation with you you had indicstsd thst the Insursnce Committee V38. in your opinion, stecksd sgsinst the sutomobile dealers; that everybody on there but two people were insurance people. I was considerebly worried about that situstion and have just checked over the Insurenee Couittee list spin with that in mind and find ss follows: 1. Jack Hsshburn of as: County is employed by Arizona Chemical Compsny, end if he has sny connection with an insurance coupon: it is unknown to we. 2. Harry aleston of Citrus County is in the consercial fishing business, and likewise so for en I know has no connection with the insurance business. 3. Chesterfield Smith of Desoto County owns a drug store and is s citrus grower; so for ss I know he has no connection with any insursnoe business. h. Kay Oriner of Dixie County is en suto¢ebile dealer and I therefore take it favorable to their case. 5. Bryant Patton of Franklin County is the owner of the Apalachs Fish and Oyster Company, and so for as I know has no connection with the insursnce business. Page 2-Mr. Marion 0. Nelson--a/23/55 6. Edward Andrews of Holmes County is engaged in tne Jen-rel far-ins and the grocery business, and so far as I knew has no connection with the insurance business. 7. nilter Sheppard or Lee County is an attorney, and is connected with the insurance business to the extent that his sister married Tommy ahands who used to work for Insurance Commissioner Larson. Mr. Larson indicated to no that he would stay out or the right between the automobile dealers and the insurance agents. 8. Gus Dekle of course is friendly to the automobile dealers. 9. Tom Cobb or Volusia is not engaged in the insurance business, but is a lawyer, and oy reason of his service on the Committee last year is extremely conversant with the problems which the entire insurance industry, including the autonobile dealers agents, face. I know you will appreciate that there are a number of problems which this committee must face oesides the fight between the automobile dealers and the insurance agents, and the membership or the Committee had to be selected not only with the considera- tion for that fight but the other matters which it lust consider, and also limited by the membership available to serve on that coalittee. If I have erred badly and there are associations or these members unknown to as you would render a great service by letting me know about it. I an anxious to do a good Job and to deserve your approval for the Job done. with warmest personal regards I am Sincerely yours, 1r cc: Mr. Rupert Caviness llwu Lake Heir Avenue ocala, Florida
