Isl-v Choc-n OCtOber 21, Honorable Farris Bryant PERSONAL Ocala Florida Dear Farris: What little I was able to do for you in your recent campaign was based upon my belief that you would make Florida the best governor it has ever known. I have not sought your company be- cause I know that there are many others whom you must see. I have not requested favors becaue I do not feel entitled to them. I have not sought to Influence your judgment except in what I considered to be your behalf. I shall attempt to follow these rules in our dealings after you occupy the Governor's chair in Tallahassee. Today I heard that you are giving consideration to the appointment of Perrine Palmer as member of the State Road Board from this area. I am unalterably Opposed to the appointment 0! Perrine Palmer for reasons which I believe are also known to Carl 6. Rose. My opposition is not to Mr. Palmer as a member of the State Read Board but to Mr. Palmer individually in any position of honor or trust. I must confess that my opposition to Mr. Palmer is based on hearsay and does not spring from my personal knowledge. I do not know Mr. Palmer. With kindest regards and best wishes to you and Julia. 1 am Sincerely, /?o/ HM M. CURTIS RMC I lbb
