Crees Raval Flow the King sent Tibert the Cat for Reynard the Fox. Tuen the King called for sir 72der¢ the cat, and said to him, ‘Sir 7zéert, you shall go to Reynard, and say to him the second time, and command him to appear, and answer his offences; for though he be cruel to other beasts, yet to you he is courteous. Assure him if he fail at your first summons, that I will take so severe a course against him and his posterity, that his example shall terrify all offenders.’ Then said 77zdert the cat, ‘My dread Lord, they were my foes which thus advised you, for there is nothing in me that can force him either to come or tarry. I beseech your Majesty send some one of greater power; I am little and feeble. Besides, if noble sir Bruzn, that is so strong and mighty, could not enforce him, what will my weakness avail?’
