During the first day of our winter the sun shines straight down on the tropic of Capricorn. --The belt of land and water lying between or within the tropics, is called the torrid zone. The tropics are at about one fourth the distance from the equator to the poles. Find the arectie circle on the map. Find the ant- arctic circle.
