78 The True Riches. it rich, take what you will away. ‘True happiness—and is not that only another name for “true riches ?”—like life, ‘“‘ con- sisteth not in the abundance. which a man hath,’ but in a quiet, contented mind—a mind satisfied in having Gop, in doing His will, following the example of our Lord and Master, who fulfilled so perfectly the path of obedience that He was “obedient unto death,” well knowing that “He will give grace and glory, and no good thing will He withhold from them who walk uprightly.” The question is, What is good? Nor are we at a loss for the answer : “Good when He gives, supremely good Nor less when He denies ; F’en crosses in His sovereign hand Are blessings in disguise.” This has been realised by His people—those who have really believed and trusted in Him. “ His purposes will ripen fast, Unfolding every hour ; The bud may have a bitter taste, But sweet will be the flower.”
