CHAPTER IIL

THE one weapon that I want to
recommend to my young friends
for use in “winning their
spurs,” as Christians, is prayer ;
for prayer is a mighty weapon that conquers
alla kind of Jacob’s ladder reaching from
earth to heaven. In the fiercest conflicts
with evil it is the only weapon that can
avail. Oh! how all-powerful it is!

 

“For Satan trembles when he sees
The weakest saint upon his knees!”
Clothed with the helmet of salvation, armed
with the sword of the Spirit and of prayer,
we shall not only be able to overcome all
our enemies, but even over death shall be
victors; for He who hath led captivity cap-
tive, and overcome death, is on our side.
We should not fear but press onwards—
