24 A Day with the Sea Urchins.

 

“ Round the islands the waves are splashing—

Gently splashing the rocks among ;
With snowy fringes of foam-bells flashing
Into the air as they trip along.
Away, away, while the wavelets splashing
Ring a chime to our morning song !”

Jasper had a grave, beautiful face, befitting his name,
for jasper, a deep red-coloured stone, is, as you all know,
the foundation-stone of the walls of the New Jerusalem,
just as the lovely violet amethyst is the last and topmost
stone of the same wall; and I hope we shall all, you
and I too, see them shining there some day.
