 Feb. 28-The Lords.
 LORD CARNARVON question made
 About the North's Blockade;
 Whereon RUSSELL, getting surly,
 Thought the Earl was rather early,"
 And did DERBY then bowl over,
 Who a mare's nest did discover.
 For he Italy does hope,
 Will belong to puppet POPE;
 RUSSELL wishes ways of freedom
 For Italians-who much need 'em.
 So, like little girls displaying
 Their rival dolls while playing,
 Earl and Duke each showed his fancy,
 As above these lines you can see,
 The PoPE-the Cardinal's guy-doll-
 Freedom-the people's i-dol!

 The Commons.
After questions pretty many
(Though not important any),
WYLD, who calls the Globe his own,
Wished LORD PAM to make it known,
That the Yankees still declined,
After treaty duly signed,
To help suppress the Slave Trade
(Which is growing quite a brave trade):
" Would they grant us right of search,
Having left us in the lurch? "
Then DISRAELI dealt a blow
At the Code Revised by LOWE
CECIL after did explode
In silly talk about this Code,
And-what was sillier, weaker-
Tried to dodge the noble SPEAKER.
Other matters were discussed,
Which I think you really must
As nothing wonderful define,

 March 3.-The Lords.
The noble Peers, on Monday,
Did some business, just for one day.
The second reading of the Bills,
To cure Land-Transfer's ills,
(Like WORDSWOrT'S little lass
"They were seven"), the Peers did pass;
Some law-lords snubbed LORD WESTBURT'S,
Though its merit all the rest buries;
But he, on the wool-sack,
Is a match for all the pack.
At a little after eight,
They finished the debate.
 The Commons.
Various topics first were aired,
And then PALri ..STON declared,
From the land of 7o, mi, fa, sol, he
Had learnt that bold RICASOLI
Was so pestered by the flats, lie
Hnd given up before RATAZZI.
BEAu",ONT asked if, not to crowd


 Park-lane, cabs would be allowed
 To cross the Park of Hyde ?
 "No the Board of Works replied.
 Then 'twas said by MR. BATLLIE,
 Government's conduct is but scaly
 Most especially their course is
 To relieve the Indian Forces." A
 Rose CHARLES WOOD to make reply,
 And, smiling, put the question by."
 And then SIR HENRY WILLOUGHBY
 (How could the man so silly be ?)
 The time, expense, and trouble
 Of financial work would double
 By a plan for separating
 Our Indian Estimating;
 Which plan, upon discussion,

 They professed them satisfied with ?"

 The remainder of the night-

 And LEwIS did avoid

 The Opposition found delight

PAM was merry as a cricket,
With a heavy score to lick it.
 March 4.-The Lords.
The principal "sensation"
Was the Code of Education,
Which SOAPY SAM of Oxon
Grew very orthodox on,
Thought it all misunderstood,
And the former system good,
GRANVILLE said, the former system
And its friends, he must resist 'em:
For the new plan-he supported
The motion as he "oughted;"
And LoaD DERBY dared to shuffle
(Which one's temper tends to ruffle),
And then his Grace, hight of ARGYLL,
Talked for a little while.

The House talked generally
Of odd matters. Then rose WHALLEY,
And asked SIR BRoBRT PEEL
If quite certain he did feel '
The. Condolence from Maynooth
Came from the place in truth ?
To prove it was not, he did bring
A silly song he tried to sing
(The House it laughed, be sure,
At this novel Perfect Cure).
PEEL replied that the Address
Was just true, and nothing less;
Then rose bold BERNAL OSBORNE-
"He'd be bothered if this was borne,
Good feeling had rejected
To discuss aught that affected
Our good QUEEN'S recent sorrow;
And he of Peterboro',
With his blue book and his song book,
Would soon find himself in a wrong hook."


We cannot justice do in verse
To this brilliant speech and terse.
 Suffice it,-he of Peterborough
 Got a setting-down most thorough.
 MILLS did next himself disport
 On Colonial Self-Support,
 Which a needful course he reckon did;
 The motion BuxToN seconded.
 BAXTER quite believed, in sooth,
 The complaint contained some truth,
 That the Colonies should spend, themselves,
 Some money to defend themselves,
 But It moved a slight amendment,
 To meet what they would intend meant;
 But MILLS, said MR. FORTESCUE,
 The question did distort askew;
 And MR. IIALIBURTON
 In conclusion put a spirt on;
 So, on Colonial Aid exotic,
 BAXTER, prosperously Quixotic,
 The MILLS he overturned,
 And by eight the House adjourned.'
 March 6.-The Lords.
 First, a Bill passed neathh inspection
 For the Gardens in Towns Protection,
 Which LORD ST. LEONARDS scarce thought fair
 To the owner of Leicester-square.
 LORD OVERSTONE, nd LLOYD,
 Said the Committee would avoid
 Private interests to distress,
 But the square was such a mess,
 It was not worth a "farden."
 It was once an open garden,
 And in the centre spot of that you
 Saw a fine equestrian statue;
 Could any one relate
 How it fell to its present stateP
 A handbill, line by line,
 CHELMSFORD read (date '39),
 Which showed how great GEORGE ROBINS
 Sold the place (that now the Globe in's),
And his catalogue's detailing
Reached as far as the iron railings.
A Committee the Lords did fix,
And the House adjourned at six.

COCHRANE did about Greece inquire,
If the fat was in the fire.
WHALLEY moved-"in silly sooth"-
For a Committee on Maynooth.
And then B. 0. explained a blunder,
About the tower and the Rotunda.
Then the Army Estimates next
Were discussed, begrudged, and vext:

Some opposition rose
'Gainst Government's making clothes;
