29. How Malice Drunk the Honey. Cric ? Crac ! AJALICE knew that Bouqui had a calabash of honey hidden in his house which he had been saving for Indepen- dance Day. For sometime he had been scheming to get to it. He loved honey, even four times more than Bouqui. But he could never get Bouqui out of the house long enough to look for the calabash. After days of planning, he decided to invite Bouqui to help him weed his field of corn. As usual Bouqui was very willing to help Malice weed the corn field. -A good turn to you is always my desire, Malice., Early the next morning Bouqui joined Malice, and the two went to the corn field. Bouqui weeded so earnestly that sweat ran down over his face in streams. While he worked Malice sat under the mango tree, telling him how to brandish his machete against the weeds. Sometimes he sang a little song as he beat a piece of palm husk with two sticks to keep in rhythm with Bouqui's machete.
