Every person concerned, not I.eiing a Government Oiffcer, is hereby reminded that the latest dtte for the submission of Income Tax Returns for assessment in the year 1954 is the 31st March, and that failure to give notice of charge- ability is an offence against the Income Tax Ordinance, rendering tile person concerned liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding FOUR HUNDRED AND EIGHTY DOLLARS. 2. EVERY PERSON whose income, accruing in, derived from the Colony or elsewhere and whether received in the Colony or not for the preceding yar,, exceeded the statutory limit of $480 is required to siibmit a return in the pre- scribed form, notwithstanding that on account of approved deductions no tax may eventually be chargeable, and parti- cnlar attention is directed to the fact that the term "income" is deemed to include not only money but also allow- ances in kind. 3. Efforts are being made to send blank return forms to such persons. It is to be clearly understood, however, that a p-rson is not exonerated jrom the statutory liability to n:ake a return even though tlat person maiy not have re- crived a blaiik form, which may be obtained, on application, at the Revenue Offices at Georgetow n, Barrouallie, Bequia and Union Island, or, in the other districts from the Police Station situate therein. Thlse Forms may also be obtained from thie Income Tax Office, Kingstown, where 'iny person requiring information in connection therewith is invited to enquire. 4. The form, correctly completed, should be accompanied by all necessary supporting statements. Persons who desire to purchase plants from sources other than through the Banana Growers Association of St. Vin- cent should be on their guard against fraudulent substittiioin of planting ma- teriail of the Laeatan variety. It is known that plants simihlrin appearance to Lacatan exist but which do not bear fruitt;;cceptable to the trade. Plants imported from sources other than through the Association should be in- spected and certified by the Agricul:ural I)epartment in the island from which importation is made. Plants imported into St. Viiient by the Association for distribution ;re in- spected and certified by the Agricultural Department of Dominica before being exported. HUGH S.
