The duties of the post are: i) To examine and advise on the technical aspects of projects in- eluding -the selection of plant and equip- ment ; -the evaluation and adaption or alternative processes to suit lo- cal conditions and raw material inputs; ii) To assist or conduct industrial surveys and feasibility studies; iii) Other duti s as may be assigned from time to time. Qualifications The qualifications for the post are: i) An Honours Degree in Chemical Engineering, but an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering will also be considered; and ii) Post-Graduate training in Econo- mics, Business Management or In- dustrial Engineering is essential. Working experience in the field will be a distinct advantage. Salary and Allowances The salary of the post is G$11,718 x $651-$14,322 per annum. In addition the holder will be paid a house allowance -of G$3,255 per annum. General Information and Conditions (i) For a person recruited from out- side of Guyana (a) economy class air passage by the most direct route to Guy- ana will be provided for him- self, wife, a maximum of three unmarried and dependent children below the age of 18 years and a maximum of two other approved dependents: (b) ocean freight charges on ship- ping personal and household effects up to twenty tons ship's measurement (800 cu- bic feet) plus a car will be paid. (ii) Membership of the Commonwealth Caribbean Regional Secretariat Pension Scheme is compulsory ex- cept where an officer is seconded from the public service of a Mem- ber Government in which case the Secretariat will contribute to his pension plan with that Govern- ment. (iii) Secretariat staff members are not required to pay income tax to the Government of Guyana. (iv) The appointment will be subject to passing a physical fitness test an to such regulations, rules, or- ders and instructions as exist now and as may be introduced from time to time. INCOME TAX NOTICE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC Every person, not being an employ- ed person, is hereby reminded that the latest date for the submission of Income Tax Returns for assessment in the year 1972 is the 31st March, 1972, and that failure to give notice of chargeability is an offence against the Income Tax Ordinance rendering the person con- cerned liable on summary conviction to a penalty not exceeding ONE THOU- SAND DOLLARS and in default of payment to imprisonment with or without hard labour for a term not exceeding four months, and after judgement has been given for that penalty to a further penalty of fifty dollars for every day during which the refusal, failure or neglect to ren- der any document continues. 2.
