104 (vii) deleting the words "The Secretary will inform the Establishment Officer of appointments authorised by the Commission .and of the initial rate of salary approved" appearing in lines five, six and seven of regulation 16 and replacing them with the following:- "The Chief Personnel Officer will inform the appropriate Per- manent Secretary and/Head of Department of appointments authorised by the Conmmission and of the initial rate of salary approved"; (viii) deleting the figures "20" appearing in line 4 of regulation 22(1) and substituting therefore the figures "19"; (ix) (a) inserting the words, "in the case of an officer on first appoint- ment" at the beginning of sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (2) of regulation 28; (b) inserting the words "in the case of an officer promoted on probation from a non-pensionable to a pensionable post" at the beginning of sub-paragraph (d) of regulation 28; (c) substituting the following for paragraph (6) of regulation 28:- (6) Notwithstanding any other provisions of this regulation or the provisions of any other of these Regulations, in the case of an officer on first appointment, the appoint- ment of an officer made in accordance with paragraph (1) of this regulation or with any similar regulation previously in force may at any time during the period of probation and without any reason being given, be ter- ninated by the Coninmission and the service of an officer promoted on probation may, at any time, be terminated for any of the reasons stated in sub-paragraphs IV to VIII of'paragraph (b) of regulation 31; (x) adding the following new section 28A immediately after regula- tion 28:- "Probation 28A.
