These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Assist- ed Schools) Regulations, 1970. 2. Declaration of certain Schools as Assisted Secondary Schools. The schools listed in the Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be Assisted Secon- dary Schools within the meaning of th'e Education Ordinance, 1937, (No. 29 of 1937). 3. Aid to Private Secondary Schools. Subject to the provisions of these Regulations the Governor may grant to or withdraw from Private Secondary Schools the status of Assisted Secondary Schools and shall give notice by pub- lication in the Gazette of each such decision in that behalf. 4. Qualifications of Assisted Secondary Schools. No School shall qualify or remain qualified as an Assisted Secondary School unless in the opinion of the Governor, after consultation with the Board of Education, the said school- (a) complies with all the requirements of the Public Health Statutes of Saint Vincent; (b) has, in the opinion of the Board of Education, premises'adequate for the conduct of a school generally having regard to the numbers of teachers and pupils; (c) provides efficient and competent instruction to a standard calculated to ensure a reasonable proportion of successes in recognized public examinations; (d) provides a teaching staff in ratio not-less favourable than one teacher to forty pupils; -. (e) ensures that its teacbling staff takes full 'advantage of facilities for training (in service 4|r. otherwise) as may be made available by the Government; _-
