I have also been deeply impressed with the devotion and ability with which members of all branches of the Colonial Service are co-operating with those people in seeking a solution to their problems. At no time has their work been of greater significance, not only for the people immediately af- fected, but also for the British Com- monwealth and, indeed, for the free world as a whole. I owe to you, and to all those serv- ing in the territories under your administration, most sincere gratitude for the vital part which you are play- ing in this great partnership, and for all the splendid help which you have given me as Secretary of State.
