 C. D. & W. GRANT FOR ROAD CON-
 STRUCTION PROGRAMME,
 ST. VINCENT.

 The Administrator has been pleased to
receive the approval of the Secretary of
State for the Colonies of a further Free
Grant of Seventy-two thousand dollars
($72,000.00) under Development and
Welfare Scheme No. 1466 to assist the
Colony of St. Vincent in the implement-
ing of its 1950-56 Road Construction
Programme.
 One hundred and twenty thousand
Dollars ($120,000.00) of Development and
Welfare funds, under Approved Scheme
D. 619, have already been spent on road
machinery and road development in
St. Vincent.

 -OPENING OF EXTENSION HOSPITAL-
 BENTINCK LODGE.

 The Extension Hospital, Kingstown,
 will be opened by His Honour, the
 Administrator, on Wednesday, 20th
 September, 1950, at 4.00 p.m., at a short
 formal ceremony at the Bentinck Lodge
 (now converted into an Extension
 Hospital), next to Victoria Park.
 Members of the Public are cordially
 invited to be present.

 COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIPS.

 1. The Council offers scholarships to
overseas students, tenable at Universi-
ties and other educational institutions
in the United Kingdom.
 2. The awards art mainly for men and
women who have already successfully
completed university degree courses or
who have feiunivalint pro) essional qoali-
fications. Preference is given to candi-
dates between 25 :and 35 years of age.
 3. The scholarshipls are normally for
one acndeCmic year of 10 months or for
