The noun kankafia ‘essence, nature, being, power'
does not occur by itself, but only as the head of a noun
phrase and only when modified by another noun referring to

the Deity or a human being. It is to be distinguished from

the homophonous kanka.fia 'to fry’. Examples of kankafia are

Dios kankata ‘divine essence, Being of God' (La Paz/Tiahuanaco)

jaqi kankafia ‘human nature’ (La Paz/Tiahuanaco; also
Bertonio 1612:2:120)
