An Ordinance to provide for the establishment, management, supervision and control of Pris- ons in the Presidency. ENACTED by the ‘Legislature of Antigua as as follows:— 1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Prison Short title Ordinance, 1955, and shall come into operation on 8"¢ Com. | a date to be fixed by the Governor by Proclamation published in the Gazette. 2. In this Ordinance unless the context Interpreta- requires— ae “prisoner”? means any person lawfully sen- tenced or ordered to be imprisoned or detained in prison; “ prison” means gaol, and includes the airing ground or other ground or buildings occupied by prison officers and contiguous thereto and any other place which the Governor shall by proclamation published in the Gazette declare to be a prison.
