ISLANDS. and Elections. ‘* Schedule’? means Schedule to this Ordi- nance; * Section ’’ means section of this Ordinance; ‘session’ means the meetings of the Coun- cil commencing when the Council first meets after being constituted under this Ordinance, or after its prorogation or dissolution at any time, and terminating when the Council is next prorogued or is dissolved without having been prorogued; “sitting” means a period during which the Council is sitting continously without adjournment, and includes any period during which the Council is in Com- mittee; ‘spoiled ballot paper’? means a ballot paper which, on polling day, has not been deposited in the ballot box but has been found by the presiding officer to be soiled or improperly printed, or which has been handed by the presiding officer to a voter to cast his vote, and (a) has been spoiled in marking by ' the voter; and (b) has been handed back to the presiding officer and exchanged for another; “the appointed day” means the day appointed by the Commissioner under paragraph (a) of subsection (3) of section 44; “the preliminary list” means the list of voters mentioned in subsection (1) of section 43; ‘‘voter”’ means any person who votes or is entitled tc vote at an election; ‘¢ Writ’? means the writ for an election.
