17 (2) The seat of the Official Member of the Executive Council shall, if he is appointed by name, become vacant— (a) upon his death; or (4) if he shall, by writing under his hand addressed to the Governor, resign his seat in the Executive Council, and if his resignation shall be accepted by the Governor; or (c) if he shall be absent from the Colony without the written permission of the Governor; or (d) if he shall cease to hold a public office. ' (8) The seat of the Nominated Member or of an Elected Member of the Executive Council shall become vacant— ~ (a) ifthe shall cease to be a Member of the General Legislative Council: Provided that, if a Member of the Execulive Council shall cease to be a member of the General Legislative Council by reason of the dissolution thereof, he shall not on that account vacate his seat in the Executive Council util such time as the General Legislative Council shall, after such dissolution, elect any persons to be Members of the Executive Council in pursuance of paragraph (2) of clause 13 of these Instructions; or (6) if he shall, by writing under his hand addressed to the Governor, resign his seat in the Executive Council; or (c) if he shall be absent from the Colony without the written permission of the Governor. ° "(4) (a) The General Legislative Council may, by resolu- tion passed in manner provided in sub-paragraph (6) of this paragraph, revoke the election to the Executive Council of any Elected Member thereof, and upon the passing of such resolu- tion, the seat of such Member in the Executive Council -st become vacant.
