Maleic Hydrazide as a Male Blossom Suppressant Purpose: to determine whether maleic hydrazide under Florida field conditions might suppress production of male blossoms. Treatments: rows 2-10: 11-19: 20-28: MH at 1000 6000 ppm, 3 applications MH at 1000 6000 ppm, 2 applications MH at 1000 6000 ppm, 1 application Results: IH suppressed vegetative growth and delayed flowering, particularly at higher concentrations, but male blossoms, with apparently fertile pollen, vere produced eventually even after 3 applications at 6000 ppm.
