SHAW Undergraduate preparation should include at least one course in experi- mental psychology and quantitative methods. Other courses in psychology should include at least three or four of the following areas: developmental, learning, perception, personality, physiological, and social. Except for the Master of Arts in Teaching, students are not accepted for a terminal master's degree. Students accepted for the Ph.D. degree are awarded the M.A. or M.S. degree as a part of the doctoral program. Doctoral areas of specialization include the teaching and research areas of developmental, general experimental, personality, psychobiology, and social psychology; and the professional areas of clinical and counseling. The training programs in clinical and counseling psychology are APA approved. A predoctoral internship of one year is required for the clinical and counsel- ing psychology specializations.
