PHARMACY physician may be required. Students' petitions for readmission will be reviewed by the Academic Performance Committee of the College of Pharmacy. Correspondence Pharmacy students may take one course by correspondence to meet elective course require- ments. Correspondence courses will not be accepted for prepharmacy courses. Externship/Internship Pharmacy externship courses are required for a pharmacy degree. These courses also will contribute to a proportion of the total internship hours necessary to take the Florida Pharmacy Board Examinations for licensure. Internship is not required for a pharmacy degree but must be completed for licensure in accordance with the Florida Board of Pharmacy guidelines in Rule Chapter 21S-1. Students may be required to ful- fill their externship at their own expense in com- munity pharmacies or hospital pharmacies in cities other than Gainesville. Orientation All incoming students are required to attend a College of Pharmacy orientation prior to the beginning of classes. Graduation Requirements In order to graduate from the College of Pharmacy, a student must pass all courses and have at least an overall 2.0 grade point average for all course work while enrolled in the college. A minimum 2.0 grade point average for all required courses, exclusive of electives, must be maintained in the professional curriculum. Students also must make at least a C grade in selected courses. In addition, the student must meet college residence requirements and complete the hours required for the degree in the college. The result of a TB skin test administered after the clerkship courses must be on file in the Office for Student Affairs. All other require- ments of the university and college must be met (e.g., payment of fines and repayment of short- term emergency loans). College Residence Requirement In keeping with the requirements for accred- itation by the American Council on Pharmaceu- tical Education, all students expecting to earn the Doctor of Pharmacy degree must be enrolled in one or more pharmacy courses for a mini- mum of eight semesters. Those students in the B.S. in Pharmacy program must be enrolled in one or more pharmacy courses for a minimum of six semesters. These regulations apply regardless of studies completed in other fields. Graduation with Honors To be considered for graduation with hon- ors, a student must have a minimum grade point average of 3.2. High honors will be awarded to graduates with a GPA of 3.5 to 3.79 upon completion of a project and recommenda- tion by the faculty. Highest honors will be awarded to graduates with a GPA of 3.8 or higher upon completion of a project and recom- mendation by the faculty. GPAs are calculated based on required pharmacy courses. Doctor of Pharmacy Curriculum Course requirements for the Doctor of Pharmacy include the preprofessional curricu- lum and four years of professional preparation. * Courses and clerkships in the professional curricula are revised periodically to meet pharmacy education standards. The college Curriculum Committee is considering changes to the professional curricula. The following professional curricula may have changed sig- nificantly.
