STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS Florida Association for Professional Health Educators: The student chapter of FAPHE is open to all students in good standing within the Department of Health Science Education. It is designed to promote professionalism and to be both a service and social organization. Eta Sigma Gamma-Alpha Lambda Chapter. Eta Sigma Gamma is a national professional honorary for men and women who are dedi- cated to teaching, research and service in and for health education. Undergraduate members are tapped from the active membership of the student chapter of FAPHE who maintain a spec- ified grade point average. Recreation, Parks and Tourism The Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism grants the Bachelor of Science in Recreation with a concentration in the following options: leisure service management, recreation program delivery, natural resource manage- ment and therapeutic recreation. Leisure Service Management is designed to prepare students for employment opportunities in such areas as community and public recre- ation, travel and tourism planning, commercial recreation and correctional recreation. Natural Resource Management will prepare students to seek employment opportunities in areas such as park, beach, wildlife refuge or for- est settings and in other areas of outdoor recre- ation and park services. Recreation Program Delivery will prepare students for activity planning and implementa- tion opportunities in all areas of recreation other than therapeutic recreation. Therapeutic Recreation will prepare stu- dents for a variety of employment opportunities in therapeutic recreation services provided by hospitals, special community recreation and in other clinical and nonclinical settings that serve the ill, handicapped, aged and the frail elderly. Policies regarding the requirements and responsibilities for admission to the program and completion of the degree are set forth in the introductory section of the College of Health and Human Performance in this catalog. To earn the Bachelor of Science, courses must be completed successfully in general edu- cation, recreation core courses, related profes- sional core courses, required option courses and restricted electives-psychosocial and empha- sis/special interest. All specializations are accredited by NRPA/ AALR, which stipulates course requirements. The following courses are stipulated general education courses and course prerequisites.
