They receive a more extensive grounding in economic theory than students who choose other concentrations in the college. In addition, they choose from a wide variety of courses that apply economic tools of analysis to such topics as taxation, regulation of public utili- ties, labor force participation, international trade patterns, development strategies for poor coun- tries, urban property prices and many others. Every student is required to take three courses in the finance curriculum. These courses provide a general background in the field of finance. Students desiring to major in finance must obtain a grade of "C" or better in ACG 2021C, ACG 2071 and FIN 3408 in order to meet graduation requirements. This is not peti- tionable. Students then must take the three required finance courses. Major Requirements Finance majors are advised that they may take no more than two (2) additional finance courses as free electives. That is, any additional free electives must be take outside of the studen- t's major field.
