The Department of Communication Processes and Disorders offers two program specialties: Communication Studies and Communication Sciences and Disorders. Clark Office: Dauer 335 (392-2113) ADMISSION TO THE MAJOR: Students apply- ing to major in Communication Studies must meet the following requirements: (1) GPA of no less than 2.5 and (2) Completed two of the following courses: COM 1000, SPC 2300, SPC 2350, and SPC 2600 with a mini- mum GPA of 2.5 in those courses. THE MAJOR: Students majoring in Communi- cation Studies are required to complete 36 hours in the program as well as complete the College requirements for graduation. STA 3013 or an approved equivalent is also required. Majors are required to consult the undergraduate coordinator for Communi-cation Studies (see above) who will assign a personal adviser and provide an Undergraduate Handbook describing the requirements for the major. HONORS: To be eligible for honors the student must have a GPA of 3.5 in all upper-division course work. For high or highest honors the student must have completed a minimum of three credits in COM 4931 (Honors in Communication) with a minimum grade of 3.5 and a thesis. THE MINOR: To qualify as a minor in Communication Studies, a student must have an over- all GPA of 2.65 or higher. The minor consists of a mini- mum of 15 hours in Communication Studies. COM 1000 is required as well as one of the following courses: SPC 2300, SPC 2350, SPC 2600. The remaining 9 credits must be at the 3000 and 4000 level. THE MAJOR: Students majoring in Communi- cation Sciences and Disorders are required to com- plete 33 hours in the program as well as complete the College requirements for graduation. STA 3122 or an equivalent is also required. Majors are advised to work out a planned program with the undergraduate coordinator. When signed by the coordinator, the planned program will constitute the student's contract or graduation. Transfer students must satisfactorily complete not fewer than 20 credit hours in Communication Sciences and Disorders to complete a major in the department.
