COLLEGES satisfactory completion of a project and recom- mendation by the faculty. Highest honors will be awarded to graduates with a GPA of 3.8 or higher upon satisfactory completion of a project and recommendation by the faculty. GPA's are calculated based on required pharmacy courses. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS In order to graduate from the College of Pharmacy, a student must pass all courses and have at least an overall 2.0 grade point average for all course work while enrolled in the college. A minimum 2.0 grade point average for all required courses, exclusive of electives, must be maintained in the professional curriculum. Stu- dents must also make at least a C or better grade in selected courses. In addition, the student must meet residency requirements and com- plete the minimum total semester hours required for the degree in the College of Phar- macy (Doctor of Pharmacy, 135 semester hours; B.S. in Pharmacy, 96 semester hours; B.S. in Pharmacological Sciences, 64 semester hours). The result of a TB skin test administered after the Clerkship courses must also be on file in the Office for Student Affairs. All other requirements of the University of Florida and College of Pharmacy must also be met (e.g., payment of fines and repayment of short-term emergency loans). RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT In keeping with the requirements for accred- itation by the American Council on Pharmaceu- tical Education, all students expecting to earn the Doctor of Pharmacy must be enrolled in one or more pharmacy courses for a minimum of eight semesters. Those students in the B.S. in Pharmacy program must be enrolled in one or more pharmacy courses for a minimum of six semesters. A minimum of four semesters of resi- dency is required for the B.S. in Pharmacologi- cal Sciences. These regulations apply regardless of the number of studies completed in other fields. SATISFACTORY-UNSATISFACTORY GRADES The S-U option may be selected by students who are not on academic probation for the term in which the option is elected. More than one S- U course per semester may be taken if the cours- es are offered on an S-U basis only. If a course is offered both by letter grade and S-U, then only one such course may be taken by S-U option per semester. Professional courses (PHA) not desig- nated S-U, which are taken as electives, will receive letter grades; a student may not enroll in these courses by S-U grade. A student who receives a passing grade of "S" will be given credit for the course but the grade will have no effect on his or her overall grade point average. A grade of "U" will mean no academic credit; however, it will have no effect on the student's grade point average. ELECTIVE COURSE CREDITS Each student in the Doctor of Pharmacy pro- gram is required to take at least 8 semester hours of didactic courses as electives. For students in the B.S. in Pharmacy pro- gram, a minimum of 7 semester hours of elec- tives is required. Students in the B.S. in Pharmacological Sci- ences program must take at least 6 semester hours of elective courses, all with approval of faculty adviser. ACADEMIC PROBATION AND SUSPENSION A student with a grade point deficit of ten or fewer quality points below a 2.0 grade point average in required courses, exclusive of elec- tives, shall be permitted one semester immedi- ately following probation to eliminate the deficit so that the average grade point in required courses is at least a 2.0. Failure to do so shall mean suspension from the College of Pharmacy. A student who has a grade point deficit of 10.5 or more in required courses, exclusive of electives, shall be suspended from the college. A student placed on probation three times will be suspended from the college. A student on probationary status is not per- mitted to drop or withdraw from classes. A stu- dent on probation will not be permitted to seek or hold offices in any student organization nor to represent the College of Pharmacy in any capacity. A student will not be permitted to enroll in Clerkship until passing grades have been made in all didactic courses and probation status removed. No student will be allowed to graduate until the conditions of his or her probation have been satisfied. Specific academic policies by each depart- ment in the College of Pharmacy must be satis- fied. These policies may require at least a C or better grade in selected courses. Such courses will be identified in the course syllabus and dur- ing the orientation program for the College of Pharmacy. Dropping Courses Elective courses may be dropped without petition, but with the consent of the student's faculty adviser, for eight weeks after classes begin. A student wishing to drop a course after that date must do so by written petition and with the written authorization of his or her fac- ulty adviser. Students will receive a grade of E for any courses not dropped in conformity with college regulations. A student wishing to drop a course during the last four weeks of regularly scheduled classes must petition the University Petitions Committee.
