The results of the place- ment test, in conjunction with the advice of the appropriate adviser, will determine the proper courses) to be taken. Consult the appropriate language departmental office for specific place- ment test schedules. *The language requirement may be met by demonstrating the minimum proficiency on an examination administered by the appropriate department. Such an examination may be more detailed than the placement test. Consult the appropriate language departmental office for details of the proficiency examination. *A grade of 3 or above in an Advanced Placement course in a language. Students are advised to take the language placement test as early as possible after admis- sion. Participation in one of the University of Florida's Study Abroad or Exchange programs is not considered a break in residence. However, no more than 30 semester hours of course work taken from study abroad and/or exchange pro- grams may be applied to the 124 hours required for the degree. Major departments may also restrict the number of study abroad and exchange hours that may be applied to major requirements.
