COLLEGES students must follow general guidelines toward completion of university and college require- ments. These guidelines include beginning work toward completion of the Gordon Rule during their first thirty (30) hours and comple- tion of the requirement by sixty (60) hours of earned credits. Additionally, all students should begin work toward completion of basic distribu- tion requirements during their first thirty (30) hours of work and complete the requirement before graduation. It is to the student's advan- tage to begin work on the foreign language requirement during the first-year. This is espe- cially true for students continuing with study of a language previously studied. A student's whole record, including educa- tion objectives and pattern of courses complet- ed, will be considered. Ordinarily, 2.5 is the minimum GPA for admission but applicants with less than 2.5 will be considered on a case- by-case basis for some majors. A 2.8 is required for Psychology, Criminal Justice and for Com- munications Sciences and Disorders. Students whose GPA is slightly below that required but who show promise in a particular major, as evi- denced by good performance in major courses, may be admitted on probation to prove them- selves. Courses taken in Military Science and activity courses offered by the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences will not be used in figuring the grade point average for admission.
