The student may choose to utilize this program as a foundation for graduate study in the areas of administration or curriculum and instruction. To obtain this degree, the student must com- plete the General Education requirements, the preprofessional requirements, the Exercise and Sport Sciences core requirements, the teaching of physical education core, and the professional education core. The Department of Exercise and Sport Sci- ences provides curricula leading to certification of teachers at two levels, kindergarten through grade eight and grades six through 12. Students who emphasize the kindergarten through grade eight teaching specialization are prepared in movement education and middle school physi- cal education. Students who emphasize teaching in grades six through 12 are prepared to teach either middle or secondary school physical edu- cation. Satis- factory completion of courses in one of these areas will lead to a Bachelor of Science in Exer- cise and Sport Sciences. To obtain this degree, the student must complete the General Educa- tion requirements, the preprofessional require- ments, the Exercise and Sport Sciences core, and the courses required in one of the four special- izations below. Elective hours may be selected from courses offered at the University of Florida with the approval of the academic adviser. Exercise Science Specialist The exercise science specialization prepares students to function as exercise technicians, exercise specialists and wellness instructors in hospital, corporate, private or state agencies.
