Political Campaigning.-Students take a total of 36 hours from four major areas: (1) the core courses required of all M.A. students, (2) courses oriented to the campaign process, (3) courses which place campaigning in the broader context of American politics, and (4) courses offered by the College of journalism and Communica- tions. In addition to the 36 hours of course work, students must complete a campaign-related internship and pass a comprehensive examination. Law/Public Administration Joint Degree Program.-A four-year program leading to a juris Doctor and a Master of Arts in political science (public administration) is offered under the joint auspices of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences' Department of Political Science and the College of Law. The program provides students inter- ested in law and public service with the opportunity to blend relevant work in public administration, political science, and law. Students must meet the entrance re- quirements of both the College of Law and the graduate program in political science (public administration). A thesis is not required.
