-102- 73 percent reported this source of income and ranged from 67 percent of the 3-member families to 80 percent of the 5-member families. Higher incomes from nonfarm employment, generally speaking, were found more frequently among the medium-sized families than among the small or large families (Table 82). The number of 1- and 2-member households earning $3,000 or more from nonfarm employment was considerably less than proportional to the total number of these households reporting this income source. The reverse was true for 3-, 4-, and 5-member households. The number of households with 6 or more members earning over $3,000 was almost proportional to the total number of households in these size groups.
