Children can create their own material. The slides are inexpensive and can be washed off and used again. Home made slides supplement commercially prepared slides and permit local applications. Bulletin boards. The bulletin board offers great possibilities for helping the children keep track of current science happen- ings. The children are encouraged to watch the daily newspapers and magazines for accounts of science materials, clip any period- icals or collect any pictures that are available for this purpose, and then put these accounts on the bulletin board. It may also be used as a place to exhibit work done by members of the class. This type of activity may lead to further reading and dis- cussion by the group, and may be made a valuable motivation for increasing ability in reading.
