Plan and prepare simple meals in school and at home empha- sizing the principles of cookery in the preparation of fruit, veg- etables, cereals, breads, protein foods and simple desserts. Become familiar with the mean- ing and application of specific terms used in food preparation. Plan and prepare at home dishes for the family's meals applying basic food principles learned at school when preparing simple meals. Write brief statements of the success or failure of these efforts. Have parents or family mem- ber add a short comment regard- ing the family's reaction to these efforts. Use attractive table settings and correct social customs in serving meals in the laboratory and at home. Practice acceptable ways of serving and eating of food until these practices become habits.
