- 106 - 2.61-1 Provisions for Offering Training in other Health Occupations. Training involving other health occupations may be offered providing the training required is similar to that for practical nursing; is of less than college grade and is given in schools or classes; combines theoretical instruction and learning through supervised practice; develops basic understandings and necessary skills required in providing nursing care or other health services to the patient; is not so simple or brief as to be more easily provided by employers as a part of employee orientation; employment opportunities in the occupation in hospitals or other health agencies warrant setting up a training program; and the occupation is not recognized as an occupation in other than the health field. In applying this condition the scope and nature of the duties rather than the title of the occupation is basic. 2.62 Requirements for Enrollment. 2.62-1 In-Service Training. Such persons shall be employed (or temporarily unemployed) in the health occupation for which in-service training is provided. 2.62-2 Preparatory Training. No preparatory training for this group will be provided where federal, state, or local public school funds are used unless all the above conditions are met. 2.63 Provisions for Recruitment, Selection, and Placement of Preparatory Students. No public school training is to be provided for students in this category; therefore, provision for recruitment, selection, and placement of preparatory students shall be a function of employing hospitals and health agencies. 2.64 Basis for Establishment of Training in Terms of Need. Possible needs may be indicated through requests for courses received by the state supervisor through local boards of education. Since training in this area will be limited in Florida to in-service preparation, need for specific courses will be determined through joint meetings with all individuals and groups concerned.
