The require- ments for teachers of nursing practice and theory who have no coordinating responsibilities are the same as those for teachers of nursing practice and theory who have such responsibilities. 2. 48 Qualifications of Teachers of Subjects Supplemental to, but Inherent in, Nursing Practice. 2.48-1 Qualifications in Subject Taught. Qualified teachers of practical nurse training may also teach subjects supplemental and related to practical nursing educa- tion. Other teachers may teach subjects supplemental and related to practical nursing education pro- vided they have completed a minimum of six semester hours of appropriate college courses in the related subject to be taught. 2.48-2 Training for Teaching. Such teachers shall have a minimum of eight semester hours of professional courses, including foundations of vocational educa- tion, teaching methods in vocational education, and special methods of teaching related subjects for practical nurse students. 2. 49 Qualifications of Coordinators who have no Teaching Respon- sibilitie s. 2.49-1 Occupational Training and Experience. Training and experience shall be the same as that for local supervisors of practical nursing education. 2.49-2 Training or Experience in the Coordination Function. Training and experience shall be the same as that for local supervisors of practical nursing education. 2.5 In-Service Training of Practical Nurses. All in-service training of practical nurses shall be of an extension nature, offered only to those who are properly licensed as practical nurses by the Florida State Board of Nursing. 2.51 Purpose. The controlling purpose of the in-service train- ing of practical nurses shall be to extend the nursing know- ledge or skill of those nurses taking the training.
