- 99 - 1.61 Duties of Local Supervisors. The supervisor's respon- sibilities shall include instruction, with particular attention on the professional improvement of teachers in service; supervision, primarily for the purpose of discovering those points on which the local teachers need help and assistance; promotion, with special reference to the further development of practical nursing education, particularly in the selection and training of teachers for the programs they are supervising. 1.61-1 The local supervisor shall coordinate preclinical and clinical training, particularly as these relate to affiliating hospitals and to health agencies and the school. 1.61-2 The local supervisor shall be responsible to the local director of vocational education or to the senior coordinator of trade and industrial educa- tion for all administrative matters concerning practical nursing education programs within the county. 1.61-3 The local supervisor shall keep the local director of vocational education or the senior coordinator of industrial education fully informed at all times concerning the operation of the local program of practical nursing education. 1.62 Qualifications of Local Supervisors. 1.62-1 Professional Training in Nursing Education. The local supervisor of practical nursing education shall hold a baccalaureate degree from a standard four-year college with a major in nursing educa- tion; or a baccalaureate degree from an accredited four-year college with a minor in industrial educa- tion teacher training consisting of 14 semester hours in approved courses; or 20 semester hours of approved industrial teacher-training courses, of which at least 14 hours shall be basic to practical nurse education, plus 12 semester hours of appropriate supervisory courses specific to coordination of practical nursing education. 1.62-2 Work Experience in Nursing Education. The local supervisor shall meet the same work experience requirements as the state coordinator for practical nursing education.
